About Us

For the Viganó family, the seas and rivers have inspired them to cross them again and again. Previous generations did it and their contemporaries do it. They go back and forth until they feel as comfortable on one side as on the other. Whether to the east or to the west, a nearby riverbank is enough of a landmark for them to start a new way of life.

That is how they came to Uruguay from Argentina and to Argentina from post-war Europe. They have come and gone, come and gone. Their roots and stories are still alive in Fiesole, the heart of Tuscany and in Prague, once the cultural and social pole of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In their lives, memory acts as a familiar muse and becomes a wise counselor.

In Uruguay they continued their life linked to the countryside, their culture of work and love for the land. They learned to appreciate sunrises, ranching activities, waiting for the crops and ending the day enjoying the unforgettable Uruguayan sunsets.

In Carmelo, a new and very recent generation is running among the vineyards. There, the family has designed a paradise to be shared. In a geography where you are surrounded by a natural simplicity, they have devised a perfect setting to produce wines full of coastal spirit, wines that reflect the work of the people, the care of the grapes, the affection for their production, wines proud of their terroir.

The concept is simple and in its simplicity lies its strength – a boutique winery that produces wines with the values of the countryside, all paired with an excellent gastronomy based on typical local, country and Italian food.

If life is poetry and is nourished by stories of love, uprooting and reunions, the Viganó family is an open book, generous in appreciating the past and promising in imagining the future. They trust in the land, in its beauty, and its moods. The countryside is part of their life, and they transmit that life to their wines.
